How Shakti FPO Enabled 120 Farmers to Adopt Drip Irrigation

Shakti Farmer Producer Organisation (Ahmednagar) wanted to help members reduce water usage and increase yields. The leadership contacted DeshSeva for a streamlined approach.

Objective

• File drip irrigation subsidy applications for 120 members before the kharif deadline.
• Standardise documents and ensure every member received installation guidance.

What we did

1. Document drives: Two virtual orientation sessions helped members scan Satbara, Aadhaar and bank documents using their smartphones.
2. Central tracker: We created a shared tracker for the FPO manager to monitor payment receipts, installation status and subsidy acknowledgement numbers.
3. Vendor alignment: Negotiated uniform pricing with two empanelled drip vendors and scheduled cluster-wise installations.
4. Weekly reviews: The FPO board received WhatsApp updates and resolved open items quickly.

Outcome

• 116 applications were approved within 45 days; remaining four were refiled with corrected bank details.
• Farmers reported 18–22% water savings and better fertigation control.

Shakti FPO now uses our dashboard to plan the next cohort for horticulture subsidies.
